Clevedon Learning Trust

Yatton Free School Consultation Event - Thursday 6 June

Clevedon Learning Trust have been awarded the new Yatton Primary School in North End after years of running successful schools in and around Clevedon and Bridgwater.

The school is due to open September 2020 and will grow to 210 pupils, with scope to increase its capacity to 420 to meet future demand from local housing development. The school also has the facility for Nursery provision.

Now the Clevedon Learning Trust is holding a consultation event for parents, families and the whole local community on Thursday 6th June 2019 at Horsecastle Chapel, Yatton between 2.00pm and 8.00pm.

Attenders can see the school design and have the opportunity to ask questions about admissions and opening. If there is the demand, the Trust will review whether to open more classes than Reception for older children.

CLT CEO John Wells said: “We look forward to meeting the community on 6th June and can answer any questions about this exciting new school. We’re delighted to have the opportunity to serve the local community.

“It will be a creative and innovative place of learning where children will be encouraged to be as successful as they can be in all that they do.

“We want the pupils to develop lively and enquiring minds and to acquire knowledge and skills relevant to a fast-changing world.

“We are eager to work in partnership with families and the local community to support the children, enabling them to develop and flourish, fulfilling their potential at school and in life as good citizens.”

The Clevedon Learning Trust is uniquely placed to provide the best possible start and continued success of the new school. In September 2017, it successfully opened the new Northgate Primary School and Nursery in Bridgwater. The CLT is a thriving family of primary and secondary schools situated in North Somerset and Somerset.

Mr Wells added: “The strength of our Trust is our ability to work as a family of schools who are connected by shared values and our relentless focus on delivering an excellent education to every child in every school. Being a part of our wider Trust family provides individual support and guidance for our schools.”

The Clevedon Learning Trust will also be reviewing whether to open more classes than just Reception - for example Year 1/2 and/or Year 3/4.

Alister Christopher, Chair of the Clevedon Learning Trust said: “I am delighted that we will be working with the Yatton Community to create a wonderful learning environment for the children in the village.

“We are looking forward to bringing our values and experience to benefit students, parents and the overall community."

North Somerset Council is pleased to work with the Clevedon Learning Trust, the sponsors of the new primary school at North End in Yatton.

A spokesperson said: “It is important that the schools in the village are able to work together to meet the needs of this growing community.  Knowing the requirements of local residents is key to being able to plan for the right delivery of school places across Yatton Infant and Junior Schools and this new provision.  The Council, in supporting all schools, sees the Trust’s consultation as a good way of ensuring local views can be taken into account.”
